I’m a bit behind (again) at posting some of my latest images. Recently a new member as added to the family as George and Tracy welcomed Aleena. They asked that I take some newborn shots. Here are a few of them, along with a couple taken a few days ago at a family gathering.
Skibowl Adventures
While new snow around here lately has been non-existent, Chad and I took a weeknight trip a couple weeks back to Skibowl for some night riding and skiing. From the top of ski bowl we were met with clear skies, and a fantastic sunset. We could see Rainier, Adams, Hood, St Helens and Jefferson from the ridge. We just stopped and watched the sunset, with some killer alpenglow on Hood.
This last one was taken when we were out on an excursion with our friend Ginny and her husband Shane
Japanese Gardens, Portland Oregon
Living in Portland and being a photographer means you pretty much have to shoot the Japanese Gardens. It only took 6 years of living in the area before I visited and did so
. We went up there with our good friends Nick and Julie in October. It’s taken me this long to get around to editing them. Here are a couple takes on the gardens, including the famous maple tree.
Top 5 Images from Venice, Italy
As I’m slowly working through editing photos from our anniversary trip to Italy and Greece, I realize how hard it is to pick my favorite shots. In keeping with the rule Ray and I had used on a few photo trips around Portland, as I work through each of the cities we visited, I’ll post my top 5 favorites. More images will likely be on my flickr stream as well. More venice shots(top 30) can be found here

This shot is taken from the bell tower in St Marks Square. We went up to the top as the sun was setting, and it afforded a great view of the city.

Another shot from the bell tower featuring another part of the city.

Hidden canal alleyway at night in Venice

Interior of St Marks Basillica with light streaking in from the top. All of the interior work is done in mosaic. In other words, it’s not paint, but individual tiles glued to the ceiling and walls.
PDX Symphony Fireworks
Went down to the dock near OMSI a few weeks ago to take some photos of the fireworks with my buddy Ray. Taking fireworks shots is a bit of luck as I think we both just fired away and hoped we got something good. Here’s a couple decent shots, along with a couple others from our time on the waterfront:
