Underoath – Some Will Seek Forgiveness Others Escape

Time for another song. This one I think is at least in my top 10 favorites, probably top 5. It’s right up there with Matthias Replaces Judas. I love how it is a reminder to me that God sees me and hears me, and wants to work on molding me into whatever His plan for me is. It just reminds me that even though at times I am unloving and do not show grace to others, that is something that I will continually be taught and that I should work on.

What I really like about this song is the buildup to the end. Definitely invokes a certain feeling when everything is building up and finally he just sings “Jesus, I’m ready to come HOME”. I know that some people don’t care for screaming and I’ve actually heard people say that it can’t glorify God. But I really enjoy it at times and I think that any style of music can be used to glorify God in the right context. I have this song on my “Worship” playlist on my mp3 player. It brings me closer to Him. I see the screaming as a hearts cry out for something. I love hearing that passion…his passion for Jesus. Amazing.

Take a listen, take a read, whatever…let me know whether you like it, have heard it before. Interested to hear anyones thoughts on it.

I heard a voice through the discord
A deluge of passersby
I saw one gaze frozen in time
Watching me passing by

I swear I’ll know your face in the crowd
And I’ll hear your voice so loud
When you’re whispering

Hey unfaithful I will teach you
To be stronger
Hey ungraceful I will teach you
To forgive one another

Here’s my kiss to betray
Desperate to brush the lips of grace
Do you feel hollow when you think of how I lied?

Oh sweet angel of mercy
With your grace like the morning
Wrap your loving arms around me
Oh sweet angel of mercy
With your grace like the morning
Wrap your loving arms around me

Hey unfaithful I will teach you
To be stronger
Hey ungraceful I will teach you
To forgive one another

Hey unfaithful I will teach you
To be stronger
Hey unloving
I will love you
And will love you

Jesus I’m ready to come home
I’m ready to come
Jesus I’m ready to come home
Unfaithful
Ungraceful
And unloving
I will love you

Song of the Week – Selah PR – Honesty

Another Week, another song…if you missed the last one, it was Showbreads Matthias Replaces Judas

I listen to a lot of music at work. I sit in a cube all day, so my mp3 player is a must. As I said before, I’m going to try and put up some good Christian songs that I enjoy listening to, maybe introducing you guys to something you haven’t heard before, as well as posting some of my all time favorite songs by Christian artists.

So onto the song. This song is by my good friends Selah PR. They’re from Silverton, OR (near salem) and are more of a hardcore band. So if you like harder music, hopefully you’ll like this. They put on a tight live show, so go check them out if you get a chance. In fact, next Wednesday Jan 11th at Rock N Roll Pizza in Portland they’ll be with Reclaim the Fallen and Dear Whoever, who I hear are both awesome as well.

So there’s my shameless plug, heres the song.

I’ve tried so hard to let you see
The change inside of me
But your heart it couldn’t feel
What it is to be real
I’ve touched you with tainted hands
I am sorry my friends
But we must move on from here
Without fear

Chorus:
This will never be the same
So I guess this will be goodbye
We must face this right here and now
Because this won’t just go away

It seems like yesterday’s so far
From where we are now
But in honesty we speak
Help us off our feet
Because life can be so hard
Without a good friend
Let’s let this all fade away
Never again

Chorus

Time, time, time – I won’t waste your time

Prayer:
In the waters deep sweep me off my feet
Take me away from myself
Into Your arms is where I want to be
It is the only place that I have felt so free
From all these weights that hang tight to me
I lay all these thorns down at Your feet

Showbread – Matthias Replaces Judas

From time to time, I’d like to share some of the songs that have had an impact on my walk with Christ in hopes that they might bless you as well. This song is beautful. Simply beautiful. The truth in the lyrics rings true in so many ways. Now in case you didn’t know, Matthias was the one who replaced Judas as one of the twelve apostles of Christ.

This song speaks of how broken, and truly unworthy we are of God’s grace, and yet he offers it to us. Although we are unworthy, and sometimes feel like there is nothing we can offer, we are reminded that all we have to do is give ourselves to be used in whatever way God will us. As the song says, He “offers to wash our feet” as we “offer to disobey Him”. If you’ve never heard this song, let me know. I can listen to this one over and over again, so I hope in some way it blesses you.

Matthias Replaces Judas – Showbread
it is so that my transgressions have born a withered fruit,
the sun has scorched the rising plans;
alas they have no root, the bleached bones of animals bound by leather strips,
dance through the air with laughter as i wield this wicked whip,
as you did warn me carpenter, this world has weakened my heart,
so easily i disparage, self-seeking the work of my art,
and there you have come to me at the moment i bathe in my sorrow,
so in love with myself, sought after avoiding tomorrow,
where do you find the love to offer he who betrays you?
and offer to wash my feet as i offer to disobey you,
your beauty does bereave me, and how my words do fail,
so faithfully and dutifully i award you with betrayal,

the weak and the down trodden fall on broken legs,
as i walk past a smile i cast, fervor in my stead,
but my bones like plastic, do buckle backward now,
i lay in this field by Judas’ bowels and anticipate the plow,
i can not be forgiven; my wages will be paid,
for those more lovely and admirable is least among the saved,
and where would i fit Jesus?
what place is left for me?
the price of atonement is more than i’ve found to offer up as my plea,

Jesus my heart is all i have to give to you, so weak and so unworthy,
this simply will not do, no alabaster jar, no diamond in the rough,
for your body that was broken, how can this be enough?
by me you were abandoned, by me you were betrayed,
yet in your arms and in your heart forever i have stayed

Your glory illuminates my life, and no darkness will descend,
for you have loved me forever, and your love will never end
