Well, I haven’t written in a long time, and for that as usual, I apologize.
This summer as most it seems has been rather busy. Our house is a month from being complete, we’ve taken a week long trip to creationfest with the youth group, my sister has been married off, and Amanda’s celebrated her 26th birthday.
I figure the easiest way to show whats been going on is through all the pictures we’ve been taking.
Here’s the progress on the house….our close date is set for Sept 25th. We’ve gone in every couple of weeks to take pictures and it’s looking real good! As I mentioned, we bought a house in the Witch Hazel Village area which is being developed. It’s in Hillsboro, about 10 min from where we live now. We went in and picked out all our own upgrades, colors etc, so we only have ourselves to blame if we had the color scheme
Here are pics so far in chronological order:

Well there readers, I have neglected writing in a while, not from a lack of want, but time and motivation. Usually when I have free time, I end up wanting to lounge around and watch tv. I’m lazy, I know.
Well, I’m here to give you exciting news. Amanda and I have bought a house. Yes, thats right, can you believe it? Well, our landlords decided that it was no big deal to raise our new lease rate by $140 a month. So Amanda and I decided that it was time to get out of the renting game, and into something of our own. We looked around at a few older homes and kept an eye on craigs list, but one day I stumbled across a new community going into Hillsboro. Long story short, we really liked the house, the price and best part is that it’s not built yet! We get to customize the house along the way, which is going to be pretty awesome. Also, we can chronicle the whole process, both the good and the bad. I will be posting updates and pictures as we go through the process.
So a little bit about the house: It’s 1514 square feet, 2 stories. 2 master suites, 2 1/2 bathrooms, 1 car garage. It’s in the Brookwood Crossing development which is going to be part of the new “Witch Hazel Village”. That was the bonus part that we found out recently. They are building up that area into a nice community, similar to another popular area around here. Hopefully that means the value will go up
If you want to see the floor plan, check it out here. I’ll keep you updated on the status as we go through it. Right now we’ve signed all the paperwork, approved for a loan, and waiting for the design center to call us. Once they call, we get to go make choices as to what we want to upgrade on the house. We are leaning towards upgraded cabinetry in the kitchen, stainless appliances in the kitchen, and either wood laminate flooring, or hardwood floors. Hardwoods are the preference, but we’ll have to see what the budget says.

Here’s to soon being house poor and eating lots of ramen!
