Dog Mountain 05-23-2009

A couple weeks ago, Amanda and I went on a hike to Dog Mountain.  Dog Mountain is famous locally for its spectacular wildflowers sometime between May and June.  last year we went a little too early and missed the balsomroot flowers blooming .  Below are some of the best photos from the trip.  As a side note, I’m slowly working on re-designing my blog and hopefully updating more often.

One of the features is the new image gallery/viewer. Click on each of the pics for a larger size of the photo.

Trillium Lake Snowshoe 02-21-09

Trillium Lake Snowshoe-02-21-2009-0033

Here are a few more pictures taken while Kate and I went snowshoeing this past Saturday. The weather turned out to be much nicer than last week when Amanda and I visited Trillium Lake. This lake is beautiful and popular in the summer time and calm and peaceful in the winter time.

Eagle Creek Hike

Amanda and I took a hike on the Eagle Creek Trail for the second time this year. We finally hit our 100 mile hiking goal for the year!!

Here’s a couple pics taken along the way.

Hiking Goal almost met.

Amanda, Ken (Ramak) and I hiked one of the most difficult/scary/fun hikes in the Gorge today to bring our total for the year to 95.6 miles. We set out with a goal of 100 miles this year and it looks like we should have no problem doing it. There’s just something about being out on the trail, exploring new (to us) places and witnessing God’s creation. Beats sitting home all day :)

Today we did Munra Point. It was the second time for Amanda and I, but we wanted to take Ken up there after hiking Rock of Ages a few weeks ago. Calves are killing me, legs are tired, but it was so worth it again. It’s a hand over hand scramble up a ridgeline gaining around 1900 feet in 1.3 or so miles. At the top you are sitting above a ridgeline with a great view of the Columbia Gorge. It was incredible! As a bonus we found a geocache up there.

Bad weekend for the Beavs, good weekend for Hiking. Back to work tomorrow.
